STEAM: Robotics & Engineering
Fun and engaging project-based activities centered around science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
What will the students learn in this class?
Our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) program is designed to inspire and educate children through exciting, hands-on projects. This course encourages critical thinking, problem-solving and creativity, providing a foundation for future success. Participants will have the opportunity to build with LEGO robotics kits, learn to code using the popular SCRATCH coding language or learn engineering principles through a variety of materials.
What are the benefits of this class?
Research shows that a strong STEAM curriculum in early life helps to prepare children for the demands of the future job market. This well-structured program nurtures kids' natural curiosity and creativity while providing them with opportunities to explore new passions. The collaborative environment also allows them to build confidence and teamwork and communication skills.
Ages 3–6 (Fridays, 4–5pm)
- Introduction to STEAM Concepts: Fun, hands-on activities introduce basic principles of science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
- Creative Exploration: Engage in building simple structures, creative projects, and basic coding exercises using age-appropriate tools.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Develop early problem-solving abilities through guided play and collaborative tasks.
- Motor Skills Development: Enhance fine motor skills through crafting and tinkering with simple materials.
Ages 7–14 (Fridays, 5–6pm)
- Advanced STEAM Projects: Participate in more complex projects, such as coding with SCRATCH, building robotic prototypes with LEGO and experimenting with more complex engineering concepts with Strawbees or Micro: Bits.
- Critical Thinking and Innovation: Foster critical thinking and innovation by solving real-world problems and creating functional prototypes.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Work in teams to design and execute projects, enhancing communication and teamwork skills.
- Technical Skills: Gain proficiency in using tablets and computers for coding, robotics and other STEAM-related tasks.
