Kids use their digits to grasp the world of digits.
What will the students learn in this class?
Kids develop their arithmetic and concentration skills by mastering the soroban, or Japanese abacus. Even children still counting with their fingers will be using the rectangular, wooden “calculator” in no time.
What are the benefits of this class?
At least 95 percent of kids who struggle in math don’t have a solid foundation in the subject. With the fundamentals mastered, children can take on more complex math with confidence and enthusiasm. Soroban skills contribute to that all-important foundation.
Who will teach this class?
Tom Sato teaches soroban in the Azabu Juban area. He started learning at the age of 4 and has competed in several soroban competitions in the United States and Japan. Fluent in both English and Japanese, he adopts the best of both American and Japanese teaching practices to create fun, effective lessons.
